Effective Marketing In Today's Economy

Some businesses are not excited about marketing. Actually marketing is one of the most exciting things a company can do for itself. You see, in business only 2 things actually help generate cash-flow for companies: (1) innovation in their product of service, (2) marketing.

You see, to be a success you need to truly serve a need with a good product or service. Second, you need marketing to connect the "needy" with your solution.

So when I hear of a company that is not gung ho about their marketing that tells me some important things about them:

1 • They are small-minded or short-sighted. I say that because they are looking at marketing completely backwards -- as an expense, instead of as an investment in massive profits!

2 • Their current "marketing" is not working. Typically this is the result of outdated marketing methods. Well I have some news: the game has changed and marketing that worked on your grandparents is not the marketing that works today.

Future posts will address typical breakdowns in marketing that makes advertising dollars be wasted instead of generating optimum profits. But I will say just a quick word here: in a lot of cases your customers have moved online, so your marketing must reach them where they are best reached - using video marketing, using search engine marketing and using social media marketing.
